Reports even liken the short teaser to what Bethesda revealed for “The Elder Scrolls 6” during E3 2018. What’s clearer from the brief “Fable” announcement is that the next game would not be released this year. Still, fans should take everything they read with a pinch of salt until Microsoft is ready to reveal more details about the next “Fable” game. It is worth noting that the leaker has a fairly good track record, for example, he correctly reported on the Xbox Games Showcase program. CronoTK responded, saying the “Fable” MMO tip came from the same “reliable” sources he’s had. Others recall reports from way back in 2018 that claimed developer Playground Games has been working on an RPG for years. The information, however, has been received with doubts.

The main “Fable” series is an action RPG with the latest installment, “Fable 3,” released in 2010. The trailer released by the studio received high-praise from Fable fans for the keeping the fun silliness of the previous games.

The news of Fable 4's game engine was not officially announced, but rather a job post for a software engineer by Microsoft said it was: "Enriching the toolset to support an open world action RPG – Fable."
However, it's not a huge surprise given how the graphics of the Forza Horizon game series have been highly-acclaimed over the years. The fantastical creatures and magical lands of Fable seem a far cry from the energy-fuelled car races in Playground's other popular franchise, Forza Horizon.
