If that taught the gaming community anything, it’s that a title announcement does not necessarily mean a release date is coming soon as well. Reports even liken the short teaser to what Bethesda revealed for “The Elder Scrolls 6” during E3 2018. What’s clearer from the brief “Fable” announcement is that the next game would not be released this year. Still, fans should take everything they read with a pinch of salt until Microsoft is ready to reveal more details about the next “Fable” game. It is worth noting that the leaker has a fairly good track record, for example, he correctly reported on the Xbox Games Showcase program. CronoTK responded, saying the “Fable” MMO tip came from the same “reliable” sources he’s had. Others recall reports from way back in 2018 that claimed developer Playground Games has been working on an RPG for years. The information, however, has been received with doubts.
Fable 4 release series#
This could mean that the franchise is following the same path as with “The Elder Scrolls” when Bethesda launched “Elder Scrolls Online” to follow the fifth main series installment titled “Skyrim.” The video description of the newest “Fable” trailer even reads, “Fable returns with a new beginning for the legendary franchise.” But a more interesting report has come from known leaker CronoTK suggesting that what Microsoft teased last week is an MMO game set in the “Fable” universe but “not ‘Fable 4.’” So the lack of direct indications of “Fable 4” sparked speculations that the next “Fable” title would be a series reboot. The main “Fable” series is an action RPG with the latest installment, “Fable 3,” released in 2010. But once the excitement subsides and upon reviewing the trailer, one might realize that it actually does not make any direct reference to “Fable 4.” A follow-up report, however, said that the very short trailer is not exactly for the next numbered installment but for a new massively multiplayer online (MMO) title.Īs many gamers hoped, an all-new “Fable” teaser was part of the virtual event last week. Although, he admitted he had "slightly mixed feelings" but he, then, went on to say that the Playground Team "is very talented, and I'm sure they'll do a fantastic job.Xbox fans have been waiting for years for the “Fable 4” announcement, and many thought they already got it when the “Fable” teaser was featured at the Xbox Games Showcase last week. In an interview with Eurogamer, former Lionhead employee and Fable co-creator Simon Carter said that he was excited to see what's next for the upcoming instalment to the game franchise. However, Molyneux then left Lionhead Studios in 2012 which alienated many fans from the franchise. Fable II and III were both more much more successful. However, the first game didn't do as well as expected, leaving the company in crippling debt and Lionhead was bought by Microsoft Game Studios. Once upon a time, Fable was developed by Lionhead Studios and famously hyped-up by lead designer and Lionhead co-founder Peter Molyneux. However, the tale of Fable certainly hasn't been an easy one. The trailer released by the studio received high-praise from Fable fans for the keeping the fun silliness of the previous games.

One of which, by French journalist CronoTK, being that the game is not a sequel to the games at all but, rather, an MMO set in the world of Fable.įable 4 is currently being built by Playground Games, the game developer now owned by Microsoft's Xbox Game Studios, based in Leamington Spa, England. Just exactly how "new" it will be has lead to a lot of rumours to circulate. This choice of game engine is just of one of the big changes that Microsoft has promised about Fable's "new beginning".
Fable 4 release software#
The news of Fable 4's game engine was not officially announced, but rather a job post for a software engineer by Microsoft said it was: "Enriching the toolset to support an open world action RPG – Fable."

However, it's not a huge surprise given how the graphics of the Forza Horizon game series have been highly-acclaimed over the years. The fantastical creatures and magical lands of Fable seem a far cry from the energy-fuelled car races in Playground's other popular franchise, Forza Horizon. Beyond excited to announce we're making Fable, a new beginning for the legendary franchise! įable 4 is being built using the ForzaTech engine.
